The innovative and informative programming offered at the Annual Conference will help CASA\/GAL local program and state organization staff, board members and volunteers enhance their knowledge, deepen their understanding of issues, and discuss promising practices that will advance our collective work. You will have the opportunity to hear directly from inspiring and knowledgeable plenary speakers, and conference sessions will provide exceptional learning opportunities on critical topics including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Advocacy skills and child welfare<\/li>\n<li>Leadership<\/li>\n<li>Governance<\/li>\n<li>Marketing and fundraising<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Seattle is home to the National CASA\/GAL Association for Children, and it\u2019s where our movement of volunteer advocates found its start. Celebrate the Association\u2019s 40th anniversary by coming together where it all began. You\u2019ll be inspired by stories of those who have shaped our movement in the last four decades \u2013 and you will be a part of our enduring legacy.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll also be among the first to hear about the strategic goals and initiatives of the National CASA\/GAL Association and the plan that will guide us into the future. We will also be introducing a new National Volunteer Strategy and Recruitment Campaign at the conference, and attendees will have the opportunity to get a first look at the new strategy and campaign.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading-text\">Where does the conference take place?<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"content\"><p>The Annual Conference will take place at the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hyatt.com\/en-US\/hotel\/washington\/hyatt-regency-seattle\/sears\">Hyatt Regency Seattle<\/a><\/strong> located at 808 Howell Street, Seattle, Washington, United States, 98101.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading-text\">Is a hotel room included in the conference fee?<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"content\"><p>No, the hotel room is not included in the conference registration fee.<br \/>\nA block of rooms has been reserved for conference attendees with the following rates:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Single or double: $232 per room plus taxes<\/li>\n<li>Triple: $257 per room plus taxes<\/li>\n<li>Quadruple: $282 per room plus taxes<br \/>\n(Taxes are currently 15.6%)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The link to register for the hotel room block will be available in your conference registration confirmation email after registration opens. Only one room is allowed to be reserved per registration. Rates are subject to prevailing government per diem at the time of the program.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading-text\">How do I register for the hotel?<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"content\"><p>Hotel registration is open. The link to register for the hotel room block will be available in your conference registration email.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading-text\">How do I get to the conference from the airport and where do I park if I am driving?<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"content\"><p>Directions, travel options, and parking fees can all be found on the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hyatt.com\/en-US\/hotel\/washington\/hyatt-regency-seattle\/sears\/maps-parking-transportation\">Hyatt Regency Seattle<\/a><\/strong> website. Seattle\u2019s Sound Transit\u2019s Link Light Rail runs to and from the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, which is just 15 miles away. Conference attendees can walk two blocks southwest to the Westlake Station to board the rail to the airport. Fares are $3.00 each way.<\/p>\n<p>Self-parking is available overnight for hotel guests (with in and out privileges) with an estimated rated of $40 a day.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading-text\">How do I register for the 2022 annual conference?<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"content\"><p>This year\u2019s conference registration process is open. First, please register for the conference following the prompts on the registration site. The website to register now is <a href=\"https:\/\/nationalcasagal.org\/annual-conference-2022\/\">https:\/\/nationalcasagal.org\/annual-conference-2022\/<\/a>. \u00a0You will receive a confirmation by email after you complete registration. Once the conference schedule is finalized, you will receive an email with instructions on choosing which workshops you would like to attend. To sign up for workshops or other add-ons, go to the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/nationalcasagalassociation.account.webconnex.com\/login\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Manage My Account<\/a><\/strong> page to claim your account or update your registration. The email login will be the one used at registration. Registration materials will not be mailed to you. Name badges and programs will be available when you arrive at the conference.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading-text\">Why is there a significant increase in registration fees from the previous conferences?<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"content\"><p>We recognize that the fee for the 2022 Annual Conference is significantly higher than in the past. For years, we have kept the registration costs low so that more members of the network could participate, but with the increase in the costs of goods and services, we had to increase the fees to cover the costs. The in-person registration fee reflects the expenses associated with delivering a high- quality conference in a city like Seattle where hotel, food and other associated costs are higher during the summer months. Each year we will evaluate the registration fees and make the appropriate adjustments based on the conference location and associated expenses.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading-text\">I need to register and pay by check, what do I need to do?<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"content\"><p>If you wish to pay by check, you can select this option when you register online. Can you check on my status and email me a confirmation?<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"content\"><p>Please email <a href=\"mailto:conference@nationalcasagal.org\">conference@nationalcasagal.org<\/a> to inquire about your registration.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading-text\">Are there early registration discounts available?<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"content\"><p>Yes, we have early bird discounts available.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading-text\">What is included in the conference registration fee?<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"content\"><p>The conference registration fee includes admission to all general sessions, learning sessions, networking opportunities and meal functions. The meal functions include a light continental breakfast on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday mornings. Other meals included in the registration are heavy hors d\u2019 oeuvres and light refreshments at the Opening Reception on Saturday, June 4, 2022, and a meal at the Awards of Excellence Celebratory event on Monday, June 6, 2022.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading-text\">What meals are not covered in the conference registration fee?<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"content\"><p>Outside of the meals previously mentioned, lunch and dinner will be on your own allowing conference-goers the opportunity to have extended networking lunches with colleagues and explore dining venues that are located in and in close proximity to the hotel.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading-text\">Who qualifies for a volunteer registration rate?<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"content\"><p>In appreciation for the work that CASA\/GAL volunteer advocates do for children who have experienced abuse and\/or neglect, a volunteer discount for conference registration is being offered to all active CASA\/GAL volunteers, currently assigned to a case. Volunteers will be identified by special ribbons and must provide the name of their program when registering. This discount applies to full registrations only. It is not available to those registering as youths\/students, for one-day only, or group registration and is not applicable for guest tickets. This discount does not apply to board members, program staff or other non-advocate types of volunteers.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading-text\">Who qualifies for the student\/youth rate? Ex.: I work for the CASA program but am a full time student. Do I qualify for the student registration rate?<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"content\"><p>Anyone who is a full-time student qualifies for the deeply discounted student\/youth registration rate, regardless of the age of the student. Any person who is 25 years of age or younger, qualifies as a youth for this same discount.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading-text\">I\u2019m registering multiple people. Is there a discount?<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"content\"><p>Yes, we have a group registration discount. Register five (5) people and get the sixth registrant free. All registrations must be entered together and paid at the same time. The first registrant will be able to add multiple additional registrants after entering their own information. The group rate only applies to full conference registrations. Please note: this discount is not available to volunteers\/students\/youth.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading-text\">Will I be able to transfer a registration or multiple registrations?<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"content\"><p>Yes, you can make name changes or transfer a registration. There is a $30 transfer fee to transfer registrations. Name transfers must be done by emailing the request to <a href=\"mailto:conference@nationalcasagal.org\">conference@nationalcasagal.org<\/a>. Transfers or additions of missing or omitted names after June 3, 2022, must be made onsite and will be charged a $30 registration transfer\/name substitution fee per name.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading-text\">How do I register for the additional opportunities for the 2022 Annual Conference?<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"content\"><p>After conference registration opens, additional opportunities will be added leading up to the conference with instructions on how to register for them. Please continue to visit the site frequently for conference updates.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading-text\">What are the cancellation and refund policies?<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"content\"><p>Cancellation\/Refund\/Transfer:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Annual Conference:\n<ul>\n<li>Sept. 2021\u2013May 2, 2022 \u2013 cancellation fee is $100;<\/li>\n<li>May 3\u2013June 3, 2022 (and beyond) \u2013 No Refund<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Transfer registrations: $30<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To cancel a conference registration, please email <a href=\"mailto:conference@nationalcasagal.org\">conference@nationalcasagal.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading-text\">What is the difference between Sub-Plenary Sessions, Learning Sessions and Affinity Learning Sessions?<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"content\"><p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Sub-Plenary Sessions<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nWill offer attendees an opportunity to dive deeper into content presented by the preceding Plenary Speaker.<br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Learning Sessions-Workshops<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\nOne-hour Learning Sessions will cover a wide range of topics pertaining to the conference theme. Some of these learning sessions will be facilitated by colleagues from the CASA\/GAL network, while others will be led by people with lived experience including birth parents, foster parents, kinship providers and young people.<br \/>\n<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Affinity Learning Sessions<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nAffinity Learning Sessions will include workshops and networking circles, each consisting of groups with similar interests or serving communities with similar characteristics: urban, suburban, rural, or tribal. Groups will meet to learn from and network with each other.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading-text\">What is the Training of Facilitators?<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"content\"><p>The Training of Facilitators (TOF) is for experienced or new facilitators who deliver volunteer training or manage their organization\u2019s training activities. This interactive course will focus on adult-learning, engagement techniques, and how to build positive a learning community. <span style=\"color: #ee3124;\">THIS COURSE IS SOLD OUT.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading-text\">Who are the plenary speakers?<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"content\"><p>We are in the early stages of planning the conference and identifying speakers. As in the past, we are planning to have a variety of exciting, informative speakers that will appeal to our attendees.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading-text\">How many plenary sessions are there going to be?<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"content\"><p>There will be about four to six plenary sessions with an average of two a day.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading-text\">What is the Awards of Excellence?<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"content\"><p>Every year we highlight innovation and exemplary service at the Awards of Excellence. This year\u2019s awards ceremony will take place Monday, June 6, 2022, where we will celebrate programs and individuals doing incredible work in their states and communities. This celebratory event will include a meal (included in your conference registration) and an awards ceremony to honor our dedicated advocates, judges, board members and staff.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading-text\">Can I bring my spouse or children to the Awards of Excellence event or other events?<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"content\"><p>Yes, spouses, friends or children may attend events that are open to all attendees with the purchase of guest tickets. Guest tickets for the Awards of Excellence event are priced at about $100 per ticket inclusive of tax and gratuity. Please purchase guest tickets when you complete your registration, or add them later by modifying your registration. Guest tickets may also be available onsite, pending space availability.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading-text\">What should I wear to the conference?<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"content\"><p>Attire for the conference is business casual. Most men wear slacks and button-down shirts; women wear skirts\/slacks with blouses\/sweaters. Additional layers are advised since hotel temperatures can fluctuate, as well as comfortable shoes for walking between sessions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading-text\">How many CLE (Continuing Legal Education) credits is the conference approved for?<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"content\"><p>We will offer CLEs for the in-person conference. Previous National CASA\/GAL Annual conferences have been approved for up to 10.5 CLUs through the Washington State Bar. The number of credits for 2022 has yet to be determined.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"heading-text\">How many CEU (Continuing Education Units for social workers) credits is the conference approved for?<\/div>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"content\"><p>We will offer CEUs for the in-person conference. Previous National CASA\/GAL Annual conferences have been approved for up to 18 CEUs through the National Association of Social Workers.
